Another important announcement

Sjoe, whatever will you all do? 3 posts, 1 day.... so I guess it's me that caused the horrid weather lashing the Cape!

Can't wait to meet you all.

House

Well, it's quieter this week let me update.
You guessed it, the lounge is not yet done, I'm beginning to get a little short tempered with this whole lot, but this time there is a very good reason...

My sensitive sinuses started acting up, REAL bad! We decided that the little savings we had put away to complete the lounge had to go into getting the trees being cut down before they were in full bloom, and before the cheerful spring birds made their nests, (I would have lived with the allergies, I can't kill baby birds). So, the tree fellers arrived bright and early last week and began cutting the culprits down. Syd in his infinite wisdom decided to ask the fellers to get rid of the foliage and cut the branches into smaller logs to keep for braai wood. Aha!!!!

There is a LOT of wood!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, the whole reason for my long winded rambling is this..... South Africans are curious by nature and so many of our "neighbours" stopped to find out what was going on. Um.... in case you hadn't noticed, we're cutting down trees. Ja, you see that chainsaw, you see the tree falling, you see the the loading of the foliage, the now completely open house, where once before you couldn't see the front at all, WE'RE CUTTING DOWN TREES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since there was no need before, we had no lace curtains on the windows, now with every person driving down our street and slowing to try and figure out what is different, we had to get something. So Sunday was spent hanging new curtain rails, goodbye, circa 1960's cream painted plummets and horrid rusted metal hooks, hello decent curtain rails and properly hung curtains.

Added to the whole trees and curtains indaba is the fact that my poor dedicated husband painted the last coat on lounge floor, only to have a section of 1 x 2 meters left after the paint was finished. No problem, go out buy some more studio paint, same colour, different batch. Paint the floor, floor dries....... Different colour. EXPLETIVES!!!!!!! He has however promised me that weather permitting, he will complete the floor, in the new colour, this weekend. We'll see, I have no expectations, I'm done hoping....

WONDERFUL WEEK... FANTASTIC NEWS

Well, South Africa, or at least the Eastern Cape seems to have decided that spring should come early this year. It's been moderately warm, which is fantastic for me because I HATE the cold. If I could live somewhere warm and balmy all year round, I would be a very happy camper. Unfortunately we have to enormous trees outside the front of our house. This of course means that absolutely no sun gets to the house and it stays freezing cold. Added to this is the fact that because spring has come early, the enormous trees are sprouting flowers... not good for my sinuses. So, next week the big trees come down, and glorious sun will stream into my home.

Anyway... the fantastic news. My sister gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Monday. Emma Jade was born via C Section at 13:27. Mom and baby are doing very well. She is absolutely gorgeous. I am always so astounded at the beauty of a tiny baby, the absolute perfection. It is irrefutable proof that God exists.

My news... The Down Syndrome scan went extremely well. The little one is proving to be a lot like it's mom, permanently munching on something. In baby's case, the umbilical cord... which apparently tastes very good, because every subsequent scan has resulted in a good 'ol munching session. We also found out that we will be adding another BOY to our family. My poor husband is obviously destined to father boys, I think God in his infinite wisdom knows that he just wouldn't know what to do with a little girl.

The lounge is just about down, skirtings need to go on and curtains hung, and then my handy man husband will make the relevant furniture. Hopefully in just 2 short weeks I can post some before and after pictures of our lounge.

Will keep you all posted.

Terrible Trend

And so the terrible trend continues.... Although this time I must confess that I have a decent excuse. For those of you who know my history, and have stumbled upon me through the amazing support of the Fertilicare site www.fertilicare.co.za will understand my reasoning. For those of you who haven't, or haven't needed these guardian angels in your lives, because you were blessed au naturelle, you will also understand. And lastly, those of you who do not understand now, you will understand later.

An update on what is happening.

Business is crazy, and yes I have once again chosen hell week to update my sorely neglected blog, all be it at 19:15. Without jinxing the situation, or bringing in Sod (Murphy's cruel twin brother), the teething issues with a new business are starting to subside, and although I am still scarily busy at the end of each month, we seem to have ironed out a lot of problems with my system, or lack thereof.

The house is plodding on, the lounge is....... almost finished. What started as a relatively simple task has turned into something mammoth. So much had to be done and re done because of structural and convenience issues. I will not complain though, it is almost there and it will not be long before I can sit in my ideal lounge.

Some awesome, inspiring, amazing news is that Lady P, from now on Pam, (she gave me her permission) is going strong. We hit a speed wobble when her previous round of chemo yielded nothing, zero, zip. Unfortunately, because of the location and size of her tumor radiation was not an option to consider. The Doctors decided to give her the highest possible combination and dose of chemo and ladies and gents the results after 3 rounds of new chemo number 2.... The tumor has SHRUNK by 2cm. Now I don't want the Docs to take all the credit, I'm pretty sure all your prayers and thoughts had a huge part to play in this.

And lastly, and the reason for my cryptic 1st paragraph and my looooooong absence. After heartache, family bonding that brought my entire family including my folks and sisters closer to us, a new found respect for my folks and how much they do understand, and how far they will go to support me, finding my true friends and one friend in particular (you know who you are), that although we 'wobble' at important times, will never turn her back on me, emotional roller coaster rides, a lot of hard earned money, trips to doctors, embarrassing internal scan, horrid medication, poking, prodding, gallons of blood, and a lot of very sad tears......... finally happy tears came when a little stick decided to give me 2 lines instead of 1. I have chosen not to update my blog because the instant reaction is to scream from the top of the hills, to tell the world, but I needed to pass the dreaded 12 week mark. So, on or about the 2nd of February 2008 a new edition will be added to our family. This will not become a pregnancy blog, out of respect for those who have not yet had their turn. That is not to say that I will not update you all on our progress, but I will not overload you. Instead I will add a link later on to another blog, which will chronicle my pregnancy and the birth of our child. That way, if readers feel strong enough they can hop over and check it out.

And that as they say is that, no promises about new posts, I just can't seem to keep those.

PS. Nats, Ian and Hannah are doing fantastically, she is a beautiful, amazing little girl who has truly blessed her parents lives. You can continue to read their updates and Hannah's weekly news letter on their blog. Again a massive congratulations and a huge thanks for all your prayers which brought Hannah home.
